Answers to common questions from athletes who use SweatStack through an app, a team or a coach. If you're a developer building on SweatStack, see the developer documentation instead.

For individuals

Who is SweatStack for?

SweatStack is a sports data platform. Training apps, performance teams and coaches build on it. Most athletes use it through one of them, and come here only to manage their account, the data sources they connected, and who can see their data.

How do I connect my data?

Go to the integrations section in your settings and enable the integration you want to connect to.

SweatStack connects to Garmin Connect, Intervals.icu and Wahoo.

My device is not supported

SweatStack connects to Garmin Connect, Intervals.icu and Wahoo. If your device or platform isn't one of them, email [email protected] and tell us which one you use. Demand decides which one we add next.

Why is my data not showing up?

When you have enabled an integration in SweatStack, you can expect your data to start showing up in the app within 30 seconds. All your historical data is typically backfilled within 10 minutes and new data is processed as it comes in and usually appears within a few seconds after it is synced from your wearable or app. If the source platform is slow to sync, it can occasionally take longer.

If your data does not show up, please check the following:

  1. Check that you have enabled the integration in SweatStack on https://app.sweatstack.no/settings/sharing. A green checkmark indicates that the integration is enabled.
  2. Check that there is actually data to be fetched from the integration.
  3. If you connected Intervals.icu, activities that reached it from Strava can't come to SweatStack. See why.
  4. When you connected to Garmin, make sure that you gave SweatStack permission to access your historical data. Learn how to reconnect your Garmin integration here.

Why can't SweatStack integrate directly with Strava?

Strava's terms don't allow a service like SweatStack to share Strava data with other apps, and sharing your data with the apps you choose is what SweatStack does.

Connect the platform your watch or bike computer syncs to instead, at https://app.sweatstack.no/settings/sharing. Your activities then come to SweatStack from that platform, and you decide which apps see them.

If yours isn't listed, email [email protected] and tell us which one you use.

Why doesn't Intervals.icu forward my activities?

To get your activity data into SweatStack, we recommend connecting your wearable device directly to SweatStack at https://app.sweatstack.no/settings/sharing. This way, your activities come to SweatStack from your device's own platform, not through Intervals.icu.

There are a few reasons why your Intervals.icu activities might not appear in SweatStack:

  • Strava restrictions: Intervals.icu cannot forward Strava activities due to legal restrictions imposed by Strava's privacy policies.
  • Historical data permissions: Intervals.icu may not have permission to access your historical data. You can check and update this in your Intervals.icu settings.

"Integration already associated with a different user" error

This error occurs when you try to connect an integration (like Garmin Connect) that is already linked to another SweatStack account. This can happen in two scenarios:

  1. You previously enabled this integration with a different SweatStack account
  2. You previously logged in directly using this integration (e.g., "Login with Garmin")
  1. First logout of your current account (go to https://app.sweatstack.no/logout)
  2. Sign in with the integration at app.sweatstack.no/login (this logs you into the account that has the integration enabled)
  3. Delete the integration at https://app.sweatstack.no/settings/sharing
  4. Logout and login with your new account
  5. Enable the integration again via https://app.sweatstack.no/settings/sharing

Solution 2: Use the existing account

Abandon your current account and sign in to the other account using the integration at app.sweatstack.no/login.

Warning

Currently you cannot reuse an email address from another account. Account deletion requires a manual request to [email protected].

How can I reload all my data?

Reloading all your historical activity data is a 3-step process:

  1. Delete all the existing activity data: Go to your profile page and click on the "delete all my activities" button at the bottom of the page in the "Danger Zone" section.
  2. Delete your current integration(s): Go to your integrations page and click on the "delete" button next to the integration(s) you want to remove.
  3. Re-add the integration: Go to your integrations page and click on the "authorize" button next to the integration(s) you want to (re-)add and follow the instructions.

After these steps, your data will be re-synced in the background.

How can I reconnect my integration?

Warning

Please note that this will result in duplicate activities in your SweatStack account if there were already activities in your account before you re-connected the integration. Follow the steps here to first delete all your data and then re-add the integration.

  1. Delete your current integration(s): Go to your integrations page and click on the "delete" button next to the integration(s) you want to remove.
  2. Re-add the integration: Go to your integrations page and click on the "authorize" button next to the integration(s) you want to (re-)add and follow the instructions.

After these steps, your data will be re-synced in the background.

How do I give someone access to my data?

Ask the person you want to authorize to go to the integrations section in their settings and copy the link at the top and send it to you. When you click on the link, you will be asked to give this user access to your data.

How do I access my data via the API?

Go to the integrations section in your settings and generate an API token. Then go to the interactive API docs to start exploring the API. Check out the developer docs at docs.sweatstack.no to find out more.

Who is behind SweatStack?

SweatStack is built and run by Sweatkraft AS, based in Bygstad, Vestland, Norway. See the about page for more.

How can I get support?

Start by searching this FAQ, also via the search bar at the top of the page. If that doesn't help, email us at [email protected].

For developers building on SweatStack

If you're building an app on the SweatStack platform, the developer documentation is the right home. A few quick answers below; deeper material is in the dev docs.

Is SweatStack a wearable API?

No. SweatStack is a home for athletes' data, and the tools to build on it. Athletes connect the accounts they record with, and that's where SweatStack starts. It stores their activities, lab tests and daily measures, and computes on them: summary statistics, best efforts at every duration and, in beta, training zones and thresholds. Your app can read and compute on request, so it doesn't have to keep its own copy of athletes' data. Every app is built by an identified developer, and athletes choose which data each app sees. See Decide where athletes' data lives.

Which data sources does SweatStack support?

Garmin Connect, Intervals.icu and Wahoo, for athletes who connect on SweatStack's keys. For any other source, bring your own data. See Choosing how athletes connect.

What does SweatStack cost?

See the pricing page. Free for non-commercial apps, $30/app/month plus per-MAU pricing for commercial apps.

Why do my users need a SweatStack account?

On Hosted, the default, the SweatStack account is what holds the athlete's connected data sources and their consent for each app, so you don't build either. With Sign in with SweatStack, athletes sign in with the account their watch syncs to, and SweatStack creates their account behind the scenes, with no separate signup. If you'd rather your app owns the accounts, use bring your own keys or bring your own data: athletes are then users of your app, and SweatStack runs their accounts for you. White-label and on-premises arrangements are available via an enterprise engagement.

How long does it take to integrate SweatStack?

Most developers have a working integration within a few hours. The API is straightforward and the developer documentation covers everything end to end.
